Audit Committee Mandate:
The Audit Committee, composed of two Trustees and two independent community members, assists the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its governance and oversight responsibilities. The Committee's duties encompass:
- Financial reporting process oversight
- Internal control framework evaluation
- Risk management practices review
- Board's internal and external auditors' performance and function monitoring
- Board's compliance with legislative obligations
The Committee meets at least three times annually, with additional ad hoc meetings as needed.
Candidate Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Possess accounting, senior financial management, or other relevant business experience to understand governance, public sector accounting, and auditing standards.
- Not be a current employee or officer of the Board, or any other district school board or school authority.
- Not have a parent, child, or spouse currently employed by the Board.
- Live within Bruce or Grey County and be a contributor to Catholic school education taxes.
